Campus Organizing Intern

Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action

Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action is in search of 2 undergraduate Campus Organizing interns to join Young People Organizing for the 2024-25 academic year. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience working for a dynamic organization that is mobilizing the American Jewish community to confront the climate crisis with spiritual audacity and bold political action.

The Campus Organizing Interns will focus on cultivating and growing Dayenu’s on-campus organizing efforts, including supporting existing circles, recruiting new students to participate in Dayenu activities such as trainings and actions, bolstering student leaders, and encouraging new circles. Interns will have the opportunity to connect with fellow college students all over the country.

Reporting Structure: Interns report to the Young People Organizer Manager who will provide mentoring and training.
Position Dates: September 5, 2024 – May 2025 (exact date TBD)

Responsibilities:
Build relationships with fellow college students through small group meetings, one-on-one relationship building, group onboarding sessions, and email, phone, text/Whatsapp, and Zoom communication.

Coach campus Dayenu Circle leaders in their personal organizing journeys.

Support Dayenu student leaders in planning and executing direct actions, teach-ins, lobby visits, climate Shabbat events, etc.

Facilitate the Dayenu College Slack Network and develop new ideas to engage/create a sustaining community for student leaders.

5-10 hours/week (average of 7 hours/week). Weekly check-ins with supervisor and/or team.

Work towards yearly and monthly goals as determined by your supervisor, including bringing Dayenu actions to your own campus each semester.

Qualifications:
Strong listening and interpersonal communication skills including in person and over phone, video, email, and text communication.

Experience organizing (informal or formal) and/or experience with campus Jewish life

Creative thinker who is constantly coming up with ways to engage their peers.

A track record of working effectively with people across lines of difference and a demonstrated commitment to anti-racist practice.

Presently enrolled undergraduate students at an accredited college or university preferred.

L’Taken is a four-day seminar that brings together hundreds of Jewish high-schoolers from across the country to Washington, DC to learn about Jewish values, social justice, and advocacy. We are looking forward to another amazing year of programs, and we are currently recruiting college-age and young adult staff based in the DC area to work with us as Staff Assistants at L’Taken seminar weekends this winter.
The Staff Assistant role is a weekend-long commitment from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon and entails supporting RAC staff and group chaperones with the preparation and execution of programs, on-site transitions, helping to supervise students, staffing off-site field trips, and lending an extra hand when needed. Campus Fellow

Shamayim: Jewish Animal Advocacy

The Shamayim Campus Fellowship is a program that gives Jewish vegetarian and vegan college students the tools and support they need to educate their communities about animal advocacy.

Through the Shamayim Campus Fellowship, students learn valuable leadership skills, educate themselves and their peers about animal advocacy, and create a lasting change in their communities. A campus fellow will have the opportunity to work directly with the Shamayim team. We will help them hone their activism and leadership skills, develop a plan on how to make animal advocacy a talking point on their campus, and supply them with the tools and funding necessary for tabling, serving vegan food, and other outreach activities.

What Is Movement Experiences? 

The Movement Experiences department is comprised of teams that run International Convention, BBYO Passport, Summer Leadership Programs, and physical and mental health, and is supported by the Customer Service Team. The department works with all aspects of the BBYO movement.

Who you are:

You are a college student looking to grow your project and data management skills and are excited about a role in customer service, process management, and troubleshooting technical issues as they arise. You find joy in building processes and systems, are detail-oriented, and are a go-getter. When given a blank slate, you are excited to research, problem solve, and sort through the details. You can work on multiple projects at the same time and are a motivated self-starter.

What you'll get to do as our Intern:

-Enhance your communication skills (written and oral) by providing support to teens, families, staff, and stakeholders who have reached out to our main Customer Service inbox for assistance with membership, payments and refunds, event registration, technical issues, and more.
-Use your technical abilities to troubleshoot specialized support questions regarding our registration platforms
-Learn our overarching Customer Service plan and provide suggestions for improvement or changes to streamline processes and better support stakeholders.
-Amplify your research and development skills with special projects
-Follow up with families with incomplete forms, travel and payments
-Review and confirm correct data in our camp doc system
-Support the day-to-day operations of the Customer Service Team
-Other duties as assigned

What Is International Convention (IC)?
Over Presidents’ Day weekend more than 5,000 of the Jewish community’s top teen leaders, educators, professionals, and philanthropists from around the world will come together for one of the largest Jewish communal events of the year. Delegates will hear from and meet inspiring speakers, deepen leadership skills, serve the local community, celebrate Shabbat, learn together, have access to exclusive music performances and do their part to strengthen the Jewish Future.

What You’ll do as an Intern
-Respond to email inquiries and voicemails about programs
-Follow up with participants regarding logistics, travel details and payment via phone
-Complete general office duties
-Help organize equipment and inventory
-Research and order operational items like iPad’s, cots, supplies, printers, walkie talkies etc.
-Run reports and update large amounts of data
-Work directly with the team planning staff to complete various tasks as assigned
-Attend team meetings as necessary

Job Title: Youth and Family Services Leader for High Holidays
Position Overview: Ohr Kodesh Congregation, a traditional egalitarian community, is seeking a dynamic and
enthusiastic individual to serve as Youth and Family Prayer Leader for our upcoming High Holidays 2024
season. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for fostering a love of tefillah in children and be able to lead
engaging and interactive sessions with song, ruach, and kavannah. Please note that we love to sing, though it is our
practice not to use musical instruments on Shabbat/Holidays. While prior experience is not mandatory, a high
energy level, a background in Jewish prayer, and the ability to teach about High Holiday themes are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Lead two prayer services for elementary aged students on each morning of Rosh HaShanah day one, and
day two, and Yom Kippur morning. Each service will be approximately one hour, and will bring together
approximately 60 children. Students will be divided into multi-grade groups, such as Pre-K to 1st grades,
and 2nd - 4th grades. On Yom Kippur morning, this person will also engage approximately 50 families in a
meaningful and age-appropriate exploration of holiday themes.
We hope that our prayer leader will:
- Incorporate interactive elements that involve and captivate children throughout the prayer sessions (e.g.
movement, singing, etc.)
- Create an inclusive and welcoming environment that encourages children to actively participate in the
prayer experience.
- Provide explanations and insights into the significance of the High Holidays in a manner accessible to and
age-appropriate for children.
Qualifications:
- Energetic and vibrant personality with the ability to captivate and maintain the attention of children.
- Familiarity with Jewish prayer, traditions, and melodies especially those related to the High Holidays.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ensuring effective engagement with both children and their
families.
- Ability to lead a prayer service with enthusiasm, creativity, and a sense of joy, without use of musical
instruments
- While previous experience is beneficial, a passion for working with children and fostering a love for Jewish
traditions is the most important qualification.
Time Commitment: This is a part-time position specifically for the mornings of Rosh Hashanah (October 3 & 4)
and Yom Kippur (October 12). Additional time will be required for planning and coordination. If needed, Ohr
Kodesh can also provide home hospitality for the holidays/Shabbat for you and your family if applicable.
Compensation: $3,500

Qualifications:

The Program Associate role is a unique position that develops creative, outside-the-box educators and empowers them to lead and grow our next generation of changemakers through a global fellowship and service-oriented teen opportunities. The Program Associate will spend the majority of their time on the Diller Teen Fellows program while also supporting additional Jewish teen programs and engagement, including leading a Teen Service Council.

The Program Associate is responsible for engaging Baltimore’s Jewish 11th Graders in an innovative, inspiring year-long program, including recruitment, curriculum adaptation, mentoring, and leading monthly workshops, Shabbatons, and travel to Israel. The Baltimore Diller Teen Fellows program at 4Front is part of a global network of 32 communities, 16 in the Diaspora and 16 in Israel. The Fellowship focuses on the development of Jewish identity, leadership, and Israel-Diaspora connections, and Tikkun Olam.

This position includes tremendous opportunity for professional development through multiple growth-oriented opportunities throughout the year, including both national and international conferences annually. The Program Associate engages in Diller International’s immersive professional development seminars three times per year along with other Diller educators from across the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Australia, South America, Europe and Israel. This is in preparation for managing and leading seminars with the teen fellows, including our 3-week trip to Israel in the summer.

The Program Associate will also lead and facilitate 4Front’s Teen Service Council, a leadership opportunity for teens in 9th and 10th grade. Throughout the year, teens will engage in monthly workshops to build valuable, real-world skills and collaborate with peers to create meaningful opportunities for the teen community. Council members will learn about issues facing our Baltimore community and how Jewish values can inform action towards a more just world. With newly built skills, fellows will create four service days for the larger Baltimore teen community and share their knowledge to help others give back.

The Program Associate is an active member of the innovative 4Front team and is encouraged to think creatively about implementing a vision for more engaged Jewish teens throughout Jewish Baltimore.

4Front is the Baltimore Jewish community’s comprehensive teen initiative, managed by the JCC of Greater Baltimore.
