Job Posting: SWF Seeking a Program Analyst, Space Environment

Secure World Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit operating foundation, is seeking a full-time Program Analyst, Space Environment to provide technical analysis and support for SWF’s core mission areas of space sustainability, including space situational awareness, space traffic management and coordination, orbital debris mitigation and remediation, and space security. Technical experience in one or more of these fields is required. This position will be based in either SWF’s Broomfield, Colorado or Washington, DC office as a hybrid position requiring a few days in the office each week and a regular remote work schedule.

As the only organization devoted entirely to space sustainability, the Secure World Foundation strives to be a trusted and objective source of leadership and information on space security, sustainability, and the use of space for benefits on Earth. We use a global and pragmatic lens to study and evaluate proposed solutions to improve the governance of outer space. While recognizing the complexities of the international political environment, SWF works to encourage and build relationships with all willing stakeholders in space activities, including government, commercial, military, civil society, and academic actors. Central to this approach is increasing knowledge about the space environment and the need to maintain its stability, promoting international cooperation and dialogue, and helping all space actors realize the benefits that space technologies and capabilities can provide.


Job Description

Candidates must have space situational awareness, space traffic management and coordination, orbital debris mitigation and remediation, or space security experience.

The primary responsibility of the Program Analyst is to manage the day-to-day activities arising from the implementation of the Foundation’s program plan, which involves creating and managing project content and related initiatives. This position will focus on providing technical analysis and support for SWF’s core mission areas of space sustainability including space situational awareness, space traffic management and coordination, orbital debris mitigation and remediation, and space security. The Program Analyst will work with SWF staff on implementing assigned projects; from time to time, the Program Analyst may be required to coordinate with, mentor, and train junior program support staff, interns, and volunteers.

The Program Analyst reports to the Senior Director, Program Planning with a dotted-line to the COO.

Responsibilities

● Assists Program Managers with implementation of assigned projects, including research and analysis, planning, budget development, and financial record keeping of program activities
● Works with teams and independently to manage work streams and external stakeholder engagements related to a broad range of space policy and technical project topics
● Plans, organizes, and directs project activities
● Assists and/or leads planning and implementation of project schedules and monitors the assigned project(s) from inception through delivery
● Travels (local, regional, national and/or international), as required, to meet with stakeholders, oversee project implementation, or attend events related to the assigned project(s)
● Communicates project status, issues, results, and impacts internally
● Interacts regularly with their supervisor in order to provide project updates and reports on the state of the project.
● Participates in and represents SWF in events and conferences at regional, state, national and international meetings
● Maintains knowledge of the substantive areas of SWF’s activities
● Maintains knowledge of and relationships with other agencies and organizations whose policies and practices have implications for SWF’s strategic direction
● Oversees the work of external vendors and negotiates external contracts, as designated by the Executive Director and/or Senior Director of Program Planning, and subject to approval by the COO
● Maintains awareness of trends, conditions, and internal processes and practices impacting projects
● Proposes new projects or project sub-activities for senior management approval
● Participates in conversations and work to support SWF’s continued strategic growth and to develop, implement, track, and report on annual and project plans in support of its strategic direction
● Publishes or co-publishes articles related to SWF program activities and contributes to SWF publications
● Ensures that all relationships developed on behalf of SWF have up-to-date contact information and parameters available to the Foundation team

Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
● 2-5+ years of experience working with an organization in a Project/Program Analyst or Manager capacity required
● Experience working in topics related to SWF’s mission - relevant government, industry or military working experience is a plus
● Master’s level degree in a field related to space situational awareness, space traffic management and coordination, orbital debris mitigation and remediation, or space security is desirable, or alternatively evidence of equivalent work experience gained from working in one or more of these fields
● The minimum acceptable academic qualification for this position is a Bachelor's level degree in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or other related science.
● Additional credentials in a space policy-related field are a plus
● Demonstrated knowledge of space sustainability technical topics such as orbital debris mitigation and remediation technologies and policies, conjunction assessment, space situational awareness, orbital analysis, orbital mechanics, observational astronomy, space surveillance technologies, space domain awareness, RF environment, and/or space security
● Expertise in collecting, interpreting, analyzing, presenting, and representing qualitative and quantitative data to audiences with varying backgrounds
● Experience in organizing and executing workshops, events, or other similar activities is strongly preferred
● Experience in public speaking and presentation is required
● Strong interpersonal skills and experience working as a member of a diverse, geographically scattered team is highly desirable
● Demonstrated facility with computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products and experience with Google Workspace products and other electronic collaboration tools
● Prior and proven skill and/or experience collaborating with a team of people
● Written communication skills to support drafting and editing of articles, research publications, policy/white papers, as needed
● Professional experience living and working in more than one culture is a plus
● Ability to perform professionally in English is required and skill in at least one additional language is a plus

SWF is offering an annual salary of $70,860 - $80,000, depending upon experience, for this full-time, exempt position. Agudas Achim Congregation is looking for two passionate innovative 6th grade educators to join our Religious School community for 2024-2025. We are confident that the right people are out there who are ready to add their skill, energy, and experience to our committed, creative, and affable staff.

We seek a 6th grade Hebrew teacher whose focus will be on Shabbat tefillah, theology, and pre-b’mitzvah preparation and a 6th grade Judaics Studies teacher who will work with students to examine the trends and political movements that shaped world Jewry in the 20th century and the implications of these trends for our lives today. Sunday morning classes run from 9am – 12pm for 25 sessions over the course of the school year.

Agudas Achim is a warm, welcoming, Conservative congregation in Alexandria, Virginia with approximately 525 families. Our program emphasizes experiential learning, inclusion, and relationship building as keys to empowering our students to develop Jewish literacy and a strong Jewish identity. Sunday Morning Office Supervision

GENERAL INFORMATION
Sunday mornings at Agudas Achim bustle with activities and many people from all walks of synagogue life come through the office. Starting at 8:00am, Sunday School staff begin to arrive to set up for their day. Between 8:30am and 9:15am, parents come into the building to drop off their children, adults arrive to participate in the in-person morning minyan, and congregants with a wide variety of synagogue business stop by or call the office.

OFFICE STAFFER
The role of Office Staffer on Sunday must be filled by an adult over the age of 21. S/he is on site to be “on call” in the case of an emergency situation, At buddy times, they should assist the other two office workers by helping with arrivals, phone answering, making copies for staff members, and providing basic first aid. If there is an emergency, the Office Staffer is to act as the legal adult on premises when the Education and Youth DIrector can not be found. The Office Staffer is on call to drive a staff member or student to the closest emergency room if medical care is required. They monitor all Walkie-Talkie conversation and in case of emergency, support the emergency procedures of the School and Youth program.The Office Staffer is the link between parent drop ins and the Education and Youth Director or the VP for Youth. They make sure congregant and parent concerns are heard by the right parties. This person will be busiest between 8:45am and 9:20am and again from 11:30am - 12:10pm.

We are looking for 2 new Shabbat Club Coordinators for our 5-7 and our 6-18 month age groups.

The position would be Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM and pays $50 per session. Free Kiddush lunch/snacks included if you want to stay afterwards.

NSP is seeking a part-time Young Children’s Playgroup Educator to facilitate kids age 5 and under in a playgroup on Shabbat mornings. We hope to launch our next cohort October 2024.

The position requires 4 hours per week during weeks the cohort meets (twice a month) and will be paid $50 per hour. The program will meet on Saturday mornings at 9:30am-11am twice a month, the role will require working 9:00-11:30am inclusive of setup and cleanup. Meetings will take place in Petworth neighborhood, DC. Work outside the cohort meeting time itself on weeks of meetings (around an hour and a half of prep and debrief) will occur remotely. The position reports to NSP’s Education Director.

Responsibilities for the Young Children’s Playgroup Educator position include:

-Prepare activities for playgroup sessions that connect to Jewish holidays, values, or stories. This can be art, music, theater, or any other interactive medium that will engage young children (pre-kindergarten)
-Procure materials needed, including snacks, (to be reimbursed) or coordinate with NSP’s administrative staff to do so
-Collaborate with childcare providers during playgroup sessions to support children’s engagement and ensure their well-being
-Uphold NSP’s values and foster a space of inclusivity and mutual respect
-Set up and clean up playgroup space, along with childcare providers
-Coordinate with Adult Learning Family Educator to include any relevant information about children’s activities in reminder and update emails to parents
-Discuss issues and share feedback with NSP’s Synagogue Director and/or Education Director as needed

BBYO serves Jewish teens in grades 8-12 in different regions with a diverse menu of programming. The chapters across the country provide an outlet for teens to create and participate in experiences that develop leadership skills, a strong Jewish identity and build a community in which teens can explore social issues that are meaningful to their lives.

Events are planned by teens, for teens and programming ranges from fun activities like ice skating and camping overnights, to communal Shabbat celebrations and leadership trainings. A parent, advisor, or regional staff­ member is always on hand to ensure safety and health.

Through the COVID-19 pandemic, BBYO programming has smoothly transitioned into a virtual and hybrid model, with limited in-person programming in accordance with local health experts. Whether meetings and programs are in-person or on a screen, we're always having a great time!

Through youth-led and staff-supported programs, BBYO gives our members opportunities to develop leadership skills and positively affect their communities, the world, and themselves.
