welcome 2021

Welcoming the new freshmen class to our community is a key priority for us at Hillel.  Far before heading to campus, make sure to get connected in a few easy ways:

GW Hillel’s LaunchPad DC offers incoming freshmen a unique opportunity to start one’s experience with Jewish Life at GW.  Students explore DC with upperclassmen while connecting with their new freshmen community.  Highlights from the past two years have included a personal visit with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the Supreme Court, a visit to the White House with President Obama’s Jewish Liaison, a panel at Capitol Hill with Jewish GW alums, and more!  The two day experience offers students the chance to create new friendships and discover a glimpse of what DC can offer them in the coming years.

LaunchPad participants arrive for move-in on Wednesday August 23rd.  Following an optional welcome gathering the night of the 23rd, the full program runs from the morning of Thursday August 24th through Shabbat dinner on Friday August 25th.  Freshmen are then streamlined with the wider GW freshmen community for the rest of the weekend.

Registration for LaunchPad DC 2017 is now open through July 4th, 2017 (or when all spots have been filled); please note that this program always reaches capacity so you are encouraged to sign-up early!   Program cost of $290 covers hotel accommodations on Thursday night, all meals, and all tickets to events.  Should your plans change, cancellations are required by July 16th, 2017 in order to receive a full refund.  With questions, please contact GW Hillel Associate Director Adena Kirstein.
